BeRex Granted Patent for Radio Frequency Power Amplifier Using Servo-Loop
04 May, 2026
SANTA ANA, Calif. – April 9, 2026 – PRLog — BeRex, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has been granted a patent for its innovative technology titled ” for RADIO-FREQUENCY POWER AMPLIFIER USING SERVO-LOOP” This newly issued patent strengthens BeRex’s RF IC design portfolio.
“This patent relates to a technology that enables more precise control of the operating point of RF power amplifiers by eliminating uncertainties arising from process variations. It further incorporates a power-supply-adaptive biasing technique that allows operation even at supply voltages below 1V, thereby enabling reliable performance over a wide supply voltage range while reducing development time and cost, and simultaneously improving both linearity and power efficiency.” said Taewon Jung, Design Lead at BeRex, Inc. “We are proud to bring this breakthrough technology to the global RF market and further enhance our competitive edge.”
The key innovation of this technology lies in its ability to improve bias stability in RF power amplifiers under sub-micron CMOS process environments while enabling operation across a wide supply voltage range, including low supply voltages below 1V. Conventional bandgap-based servo-loop biasing schemes fail when supply voltage drops significantly due to battery discharge, causing current mirror transistors to enter the deep triode region. This is especially critical in IoT applications where battery replacement is difficult.
The proposed approach overcomes these limitations by introducing a power-adaptive servo-loop technique that dynamically adjusts the bias according to VDD, allowing the circuit to maintain its operation as much as possible even when the supply voltage decreases. As a result, the transistors associated with the bias network remain in saturation even under low supply voltage conditions, enabling RF performance to be maintained as much as possible even below 1V and in deeply scaled CMOS technologies.
This innovation enables stable and adaptive biasing across a wide range of supply voltages, allowing RF power amplifiers to operate reliably for extended periods without battery replacement even in IoT environments where the battery voltage decreases over time. As a result, it extends usable operating time. Furthermore, it maintains consistent RF performance under both short-term supply fluctuations such as ripple and long-term voltage degradation due to battery aging.
