IISE announces leadership election results

NORCROSS, Ga.Feb. 6, 2023PRLog — Don Greene, chief executive officer of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE), announced election results for the association’s new officers, noting that for the first time in the Institute’s 75-year history, all three executive officer positions will be held by women.

“This is a momentous occasion that underscores the advancements women have made within the Institute and the industrial and systems engineering profession,” said Greene. “As of April 1, Amanda Mewborn will become past president, Eileen Van Aken will become president and Victoria Jordan will be our new president-elect.”

The newly elected positions on the 14-person Board of Trustees are:

  • President-elect: Victoria Jordan, vice president quality and patient safety, Emory Healthcare, Atlanta, Georgia
  • Senior vice president, publications: Joseph Geunes, professor and associate department head for graduate affairs, Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas
  • Senior vice president, technical operations: Joe Wilck, adjunct associate professor of analytics & operations management, Kenneth W. Freeman College of Management, Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania

Jordan is an IISE Fellow who has worked in industrial and systems engineering – mostly process improvement – in healthcare, manufacturing, aca­demia and consulting for nearly 40 years.

“This gives me a unique perspec­tive on the common threads as well as the differences in the needs of our members across these groups and would allow me to serve as a voice for all,” stated Jordan pre-election.

Three posts on the Technical Operations Board were also filled. Technical vice presidents are: Katie McConky, associate professor, MIE Ph.D. program director, ISE graduate program director, Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, New York; Julia Abate, executive director, The Ergonomics Center, Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, North Carolina State University Raleigh, North Carolina; and Adel Alaeddini, associate professor of mechanical engineering, director of the Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Lean Systems (CAMLS), director of Advanced-Data Engineering Lab, The University of Texas at San Antonio.

Regional vice presidents were chosen for the following areas: Mid-Atlantic – Bill Ferrell, Great Lakes – Greg Zerr, and Canada – Dionne Aleman.

New officers are elected by IISE professional members and serve three-year terms beginning April 1.
